Q. What is the Signature of Solon Homeowners Association?
A. The Signature HOA is a community Association whereby membership is mandatory for any person owning a parcel of land in Signature of Solon. The Association was established to preserve economic value within your community through architectural controls and deed restrictions as outlined in the Declaration of Covenants and is governed by an elected Board of Trustees.
Q. What is the Declaration of Covenants?
A. The Declaration of Covenants is a set of documents outlining deed restrictions that are important rules governing your responsibilities as a member of your Association. They protect your rights as a homeowner to ensure the integrity of the original community design is preserved.
Q. Where do I get information regarding the Covenants?
A. The Declaration of Covenants are downloadable in pdf format from this site, or you can contact Barnett Management at 216-831-0165 to acquire them on a CD.
Q. I live in Avalon which has its own HOA. What is its role in relation to the Signature HOA?
A. Avalon property owners are Members of Signature HOA and have their own sub-Association , The Avalon at Signature of Solon. The sub-Association has its own Board of Directors, and typically assesses its own dues for services to Avalon property owners and for Avalon HOA common expenses. All services are in addition to those provided and assessed annually by the Signature of Solon HOA.
Q. Who manages the Development?
A. Barnett Management in Beachwood, Ohio was hired by the Board of Trustees to manage HOA funds and day-to-day operations. Your elected Board of Trustees provides management direction and has formed Association Committees, where each Committee focuses on a specific area of the Association.
Q. What does the HOA Board do?
A. The Board of Trustees, elected by Signature property owners, governs your Association on a volunteer basis. In order to meet its required duties, your Association is empowered to enforce the provisions of the Covenants, as well as collect necessary fees and assessments to sustain services.
Q. What is the Design Review Committee?
A. The DRC reviews and approves new building and improvements for homes in Signature to ensure compliance with Covenants so that the homes conform to a standard of quality workmanship, quality materials and a harmony of design within the community. The DRC Charter can be found on your website, signatureofsolonohio.com under the Covenants tab.
Q. What sorts of things require approval of the DRC?
A. Nearly all external improvements require DRC approval: home plans, exterior painting/finishes, deck/patio construction, landscaping, swimming pools etc. This approval assures not only the beauty of your home, but also consistency within the community.
Q. How long does it take to get approval?
A. Once the Architectural Change Application is received, the Committee will discuss and approve within 14 days. Please note: Work cannot be done prior to receiving this approval AND permits and approval from the City of Solon.
