The City of Solon is offering an environmentally friendly way to dispose of your unwanted computer and electronic items (fax machines, printers, cell phones, video games....but NO televisions).

Please bring your unwanted items to the Solon Community Park Parking lot on Saturday, August 11, 2007, between the hours of 9:00 am and 3:00 pm.  For questions on the above, or any other bulk recycling (i.e. phone books) questions, call the Solon Service Department at 440.248.5834.

SECOND NOTICE:

Signature of Solon Safety Communique

Your Homeowners' Association trustees have unanimously determined, after obtaining proper legal counsel that we must significantly alter our current safety/security approach and enforcement methods if we are to maintain our development as a pedestrian-friendly, safe and secure place to live.

To this end, we are currently investigating three basic options to address the safety issue:

1. Install permanent speed bumps, or other similar self-policing speed restrictors.  These would essentially be a one-time cost.

2. Turn over responsibility for street safety and security to the City of Solon.  There would be no speed bumps, but residents would lose the ability to operate golf carts on our streets unless they were licensed and "street legal".  Carts could be used on sidewalks and move across streets at designated crossings.  There might be additional, recurring costs.

3. Employ a private security company to provide safety monitoring and mobile street/cart path patrols.  The private nature of the development would be maintained; there would be no speed bumps, but significant on-going costs would probably be incurred.

The feasibility and cost of these options are now being investigated as a special project headed by Dick Eshleman, one of our residents reshleman@adapt-consulting.com. He expects to present his preliminary findings to the board in August.

We are interested in any feedback from residents on this project, and Dick is interested in having assistance from homeowners who may wish to join his committee.

If you have not provided feedback yet, please provide any feedback to this e-mail through our website by August 15th, or if you plan to participate in Dick's project, contact him directly as soon as possible.  Thank you.
